2019 S.T.A.G.E. Competition
Takes Center Stage in the FTC PAC
S.T.A.G.E., or Student Talent and Grand Entertainment is a Five Towns College signature event hosted in the fall semester each year. Student performers, spanning all genres of music, compete through multiple rounds to advance to the final performance in the competition. The winner receives a grand prize of $500.00. At the conclusion of each round, students cast their votes for who will advance. The winner proceeds to the final round and the runner-up gets a second chance in the redemption round.
The 2019 Annual S.T.A.G.E. competition concluded on Thursday, December 12, 2019 and featured 17 incredibly talented performers. Here is a snapshot of the rounds that led up to Final S.T.A.G.E.:
Round I: Jelisa, Wavy D, Trinity, and Obasi Jackson & the Vibe
Round I Winner: Wavy D
Round II: Emily Angelastro, Alex Boerum-Ruhl, and Good Ego
Round II Winner: Good Ego
Round III: Gospel Choir, Kortnei Lomax, Gvpsy, Lanasia Drain
Round III Winner: Gvpsy
Round IV: Jisela Hernandez & Jacqueline Ryan, Re’sounding, 1way, Elee James, and Lord Shabba
Round IV Winner: 1way
Redemption Round: Obasi Jackson & the Vibe, Alex Boerum-Ruhl, Gospel Choir, and Re’sounding
Redemption Round Winner: Gospel Choir
The final round of the competition took the five competitors to the FTC Performing Arts Center. This year’s host was 2018 Final S.T.A.G.E. winner, Arahmus Brown, who opened the show with his group: Arahmus Brown & the Celestial Project.
Unlike the previous rounds, guest judges were invited to determine the winner of the competition. This year’s competition was judged by Annie DiBiasi (Business Management BPS ’11, Singer/Guitarist – Jackknife Stiletto, Heldback Productions, VXC Industries LTD, and Assistant Tour Manager – Joan Jett & the Blackhearts), Dylan Gross (Music Education Mus.B ’15, Regional Manager/Music Director – School of Rock), and Jason Melker (Dream Recording Studios, Owner – Jayem Artist Management).
After an exciting semester and much positive energy and involvement, the 2019 Final S.T.A.G.E. Winners were chosen and big Congratulations go to Good Ego (Robben Harris, Terrance Brathwaite, Chunbo Cheng, Brandon Meenan, Jonathan Flores, Kristian Morgan, Dongmin Jang and Felipe Rondon).
