FTC’s esteemed Theatre Arts Division premieres Shrek-The Musical this weekend. Yet, there will be over 500 excited elementary students from neighboring school districts attending this funny, colorful, and brilliantly acted and choreographed performance this week.
These lucky youngsters are getting treated to a special performance of this spectacular musical that Five Towns College students have been diligently preparing. While most people are pretty familiar with the story of this ogre-princess love affair, there are some pretty cool things involved in the production that most people don’t realize.
For instance, these amazing students are actually taking a full semester of classes; yet, they find the energy and determination to fulfill their passion for the performing arts by working double time. They are memorizing scripts, lines, learning dance steps, singing and rehearsing musical songs, and even designing stage scenes and scenery.
FTC students learn how to do it all and that is what seriously sets Five Towns College apart from many other college performing arts programs. Also, they love what they do and their passion helps to ignite the excitement in every audience in attendance. Shrek-The Musical will be no different and youngsters and adults alike will enjoy the story, the music, the acting, and share the passion of FTC students thriving on stage doing what they enjoy most!
This performance is directed by James Beneduce, the chairman of Five Towns College’s Theatre Arts Division and is musically directed by Dr. Hosun Moon. Come get lost in the magic @ FTC!!
