FTC Faculty Fall 2015 Happenings!
FTC faculty member, Dr. Jeff Dailey, is involved with an unusual project. He wrote a play to be performed at the Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) called, The Bull of Heaven.
According to its website, the MITF is the brainchild of John Chatterton, creator of OOBR (“the off-off-Broadway review”), which for many years was the only publication exclusively devoted to covering the Off-Off-Broadway scene. Further, the mission of the organization is to nurture theater in N.Y.C. and beyond while emphasizing imaginative, low-tech staging.
Dr. Dailey’s piece is based on one of the oldest sections of what is called, “The Epic of Gilgamesh“; and, now, he will be directing it! This is an epic poem dating from circa 2100 B.C. from ancient Mesopotamia and is considered one of the first great works of literature.
So, this is not just any old story . . . not at all. In fact, it is one of the oldest stories in existence making it more than 5000 years old!
Who knows anything that old?
Check it out and support Dr. Jeff Dailey at the Jewel Box Theater, 312 W. 36th Street in the Big Apple on Nov. 17 at 9 p.m.; Sat. Nov. 21 at 9 p.m. or Sun. Nov. 22 at 1:15 pm. Here’s the link for more information: http://www.midtownfestival.org/mitf-mission.html#
Best of luck from FTC!!
