Five Towns College Acknowledges Veterans Day:
A Day of Honor
November 11 is Veterans Day, an opportunity to thank the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces, who risk and have risked their lives to protect our freedom. This includes all those who have served in the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, National Guard, Air Force, and the Coast Guard.
Originally called Armistice Day, Veterans Day occurs on Nov. 11, marking the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 that communicated the end of World War I. The name was officially changed in 1954 to commemorate veterans of all wars.
These men and women are just one of the many reasons why we stand for the National Anthem. Five Towns College will hold a Commemoration Ceremony on November 11 at 11 am at the College’s Flagpole as we honor all who have served and who are serving our nation.
