Pros & iCons won Z100’s Hometown Hero contest, thanks to the band’s support in the Five Towns College Community.

Five Towns College has a new star in its midst!  Nick Yurisak, 20, a Business Management/Music Business major from Queens, and his band Pros & iCons recently won Z100’s Hometown Hero contest, beating more than 200 other musical acts to secure a performance at the Z100 and Coca-Cola All Access Lounge at the sold out Jingle Ball concert this Friday.

After forming nearly two years ago, Nick and his band entered themselves into the Hometown Hero contest sponsored by radio station Z100 and State Farm.  From a pool of over 200 bands, Pros & iCons were chosen to be in the top five by a panel of judges, including Z100 Program Director Sharon Dastur, on-air personality JJ, Republic Records Senior Vice President Gary Spangler and Atlantic Records Vice President Jon Lewis.  From there, the band rose to first place with a combination of social media votes—over 4,500!—and points from the judges for showmanship, lyrical content, character and sound.

The band’s triumph comes right on the heels of the release of their debut EP “iConography,” which features their first single “Days of September.”  Both the EP and the single are available on iTunes and can be streamed on Spotify, Amazon and iheartradio, while the video for “Days of September” can be viewed on the band’s YouTube channel Prosandicons.

The band’s whirlwind month of success culminated on Friday, December 12, when they performed at the Z100 and Coca Cola All Access Lounge at the Hammerstein Ballroom before they walked the Jingle Ball red carpet with artists like Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Iggy Azalea, Nick Jonas, Sam Smith, Charli XCX, Jessie J, Rixton, Meghan Trainor and Shawn Mendes.

Nick wants to thank everyone who voted for Pros & iCons and supported him and the band.  Check them out at http://www.prosandiconsmusic.com/.
