KARAOKE, CARD-MAKING, AND UGLY SWEATERS…… THESE ARE A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE THINGS
By Sean Lanigan, ’22
Five Towns College’s Downbeat Café was the place to be on Tuesday, December 7th, for the first annual Winter Wonderjam.
Students sang holiday karaoke, created cards and gingerbread houses, and participated in an ugly sweater contest. There were also solo, duet, and group karaoke performances. Jersey Mike’s of Deer Park, NY sponsored the event and provided sandwiches. DJ Keyzen was in the house, playing some entertaining holiday tunes.
Brianna Hunter, a sophomore film production student wearing a Ba-Hum-Pug sweater, said, “Five Towns College did a great job organizing this event. I love the music. I love the karaoke…it gave me a chance to break out of my shell with Jeff Kramer. We sang Feliz Navidad together. It was nice meeting new people as well.”
Freshman film student Peter Caligiure, who wore The Nightmare Before Christmas ugly sweater, was pleased with the party’s big turnout, “As the Christmas tradition goes, the more, the merrier.”
The winner of the Ugly Sweater Contest was Anthony McDaniels, a first-semester Mass Comm student, who was thrilled to win. “It was an awesome feeling to be able to win the ugly sweater contest. I love the holidays. I love this time of year,” said McDaniels.
