Mass Communications @ FTC
Gets Upgrade That’s Off the Charts!!
There’s been a lot of exciting changes at Five Towns College recently but the upgrades to the College’s radio station, WFTU are, in our opinion, off the charts! WFTU upgraded from a small, cozy studio setup to a large three room, contemporary and beautiful, broadcasting palace.
In the On Air Studio, the room is equipped with a brand new Wheatstone LX24 board and a new automation system called Zetta from RCS. Most radio stations currently have NexGen, also an RCS product, but the intention is usually to upgrade to Zetta. The fact that WFTU has Zetta before stations like Z100 speaks volumes about how serious Five Towns College is about making the Mass Communications Division top-notch!
Here @ Five Towns College, students can gain all of the hands-on experience on the most current, industry standard equipment used in the field. WFTU isn’t just an advanced studio on the scale of a college station; it is a seriously advanced radio station period.
With the facilities and equipment update, WFTU is without a doubt the nicest station on Long Island. Even Professor Gene Free who works for 1010 WINS was impressed with the equipment. He said, “This is amazing. Students can (and will) get internships and jobs just based off their knowledge of this equipment.”
It’s hard to imagine a better setup at a college radio station than WFTU’s new digs J If you’re interested in radio, Five Towns College’s WFTU should be where you strive to be.
