May’s Musical Line-Up
The Five Towns College Performing Arts Center comes alive every May like no other month of the year. After all, this is the culmination of the year’s practices and musical study and, for many, especially, the upperclassmen, it is an opportunity to perform for friends and family and display the dynamic and perfected musical craftsmanship they have worked so hard on.
This May is no different than in the past. The musical lineup stretches over a period of two weeks. Here is a rundown of what to expect this week @ FTC by the many accomplished student performers:
May 5th– Mostly Barbershop A Cappella Show
It’s time to rock! The Mostly Barbershop A capella show features the best A cappella ensembles Five Towns College has to offer. In the style of Pitch Perfect and The Sing Off, the Five Towns A cappella Ensemble, directed by Marc Silverberg, sings the hits of today and tomorrow. The Long Island Sound Barbershop Ensemble, directed by Jeffrey Glemboski, is an award-winning ensemble that never fails to deliver a show-stopping performance. Special guests, The Five Towns College Gospel Choir, will lift the audience out of their seats with a sound that is nothing short of spiritual.
May 6th – Spring Concert I
The wind ensemble and band is doing a themed concert, “Salute to Heroes,” the music from John Williams’s Superman to Armed Forces Salute, celebrating the music of our military men and women who have served our nation past and present.
May 7th – Guitar Extravaganza
Various guitar ensembles will be playing the music of Django Reinhardt, Les Paul, Tony Mottola, Frank Sinatra and others. After the concert mingle with other guitar enthusiasts and observe a collection of classic jazz guitars and guitar memorabilia. If you love guitar music of any style, you will enjoy this concert. Under the musical direction of Professors John Kelly and Peter Rogine, this event has been a bi-annual musical success for 15 years. $10.00 admission, free for veterans and their families/guests.
May 8th-Gospel Choir
