Dr. Frank Doyle graduated from Five Towns College in 2018 with a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree after completing his dissertation on “Horace Silver: Transcription and Analysis of Ten Blues Compositions including the Piano Improvisations 1954-1969”.
Dr. Doyle then became an Adjunct Professor in Music Theory and Jazz History for Five Towns College and, previous to that, he was a music teacher for Northport High School for nearly 30 years.
Dr. Doyle’s passion for music extends beyond the classroom. He serves as a co-author for the “National Standards in Music Theory and Composition” and as editor for the “Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy Online”. He has also performed and recorded with Meatloaf, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and others. In recognition of his contributions to the region’s musical heritage, Dr. Doyle was elected to the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
